What has been the decisive factor for you to switch to the Aeon Consulting Group?
In the last few years I have been able to gain comprehensive experience in multiple corporate sectors as well as in project management due to my job in an international pipeline project. The switch to Aeon gives me the opportunity to experience and shape other projects. I consider this an important step in my personal development. Furthermore it is very interesting to contribute with my professional expertise and my practical experience from the energy sector.
Hence, I am looking forward to the upcoming projects.
What do you find so fascinating in the energy sector?
Energy economics is basically a highly complex and interdisciplinary topic. From my point of view, this makes it one of the most exciting economic sectors. I am sure that this sector will grow in the future and its importance in economics, technics, law and politics will significantly increase.
Furthermore there is a continuously increasing public interest for energy topics. This gives the whole sector, which has been considered to be very obscure a couple of years ago, wide and intensive discussions. As a consequence this further means new political and social challenges for which the whole sector has to be prepared for.
Which topics from the energy sector are you dealing with at the moment?
One very important topic is of course the future development of energy production and consequently the future energy mix. The economic and social effects of the combination of elements such as energy efficiency, energy saving, Smart Metering/Smart Grids, E-Mobility and micro CHP-facilities seem to be of special interest. Another important issue is how to install the required energy infrastructure of the future: On the one hand the economic basis is currently missing. On the other hand there is serious social and political resistance. It will be of special importance to develop new methods to manage stakeholders and secure the future European energy supply once the economy has recovered again.
From your point of view: What are the relevant changes in the market that representatives of the sector will have to be prepared for?
In the regulated areas of power and gas it will be the implementation of the third package. Furthermore it will be especially important to focus on the integration and extension of the necessary IT systems.
Beyond that it is very difficult to engage in reliable long-term planning and forecasting due to the quick and continuously changing political settings, legal frameworks and economic crisis. This hinders the necessary long-term security for investments and as a consequence hardly any projects in Europe can be realised at the moment.
