Technical project management is ‘advanced’ project management: a technical scheme without good risk and interface management will not succeed. ‘Basic’ project management certainly does not suffice.

So why do we consider technical project management a separate “advanced project management” discipline? The implementation of a technical project requires a thorough understanding and an extensive set of tools in order to ensure the integration with procurement processes as well as the integration of process models such as the V-model, SIL-model and the predefined business processes for product management and order processing.
